Just when you think hes dont for good it comes back up again: Brett Farve might be back in 2008-2009. sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3471189 Im guessing he will be back when the season starts. However, he will show up like in the middle of camp. Thoughts?

Can't say I didn't call this. He's officially lost all of my respect.
The curse lives.

He should have never retired. He didn't really want to, and I think he knows that. He needs football and if the Packers signed Randy Moss he wouldn't have retired.

Well Farve wants to be released from the Packers. He is on the reserved/retired list on the Packers. He also didnt file his retirement papers yet, so he is still Green Bay property. So if he gets released, looks like he will be playing on a different team.

Well after hearing this i really loose respect for Brett:
In March, the front office had a meeting with Brett. Brett said he wanted to come back. So, the Packers were getting ready to announce that he is returning. However, two days before they were going to make the announcement, Farve backed out, saying he still wanted to remain retired.
Then in June, GM Ted Thompson had a sit down dinner with Brett. Brett says he still wants to remain retired.....
and then now this: he wants to play again. Ohh man.

I've heard the Packers won't release Favre, and I for one completely agree with them.
They really don't owe anything more to him after this saga. They waited for him to make his announcement and then decided to move forward.
My question is, if they don't release him, what choice does Favre have except to remain retired?

He could, concievably, go play football in Canada. That's about it.

I think the Pack are gonna hold on to him... hes going to reinstate. Then the Packers will not pay him and dont want him there, then the players union will get involved. This I think will go to court, and Farve will win and get a release where he will go elsewhere.

The latest is that Brett has had dialogue with Vikings head coach Brad Childress FROM A PACKERS ISSUED PHONE. How stupid can a guy be? He couldn't use his own phone? Jeez.
Now I'm sure the Packers (and possibly even the NFL) will do EVERYTHING they can do to keep Brett out of Purple and Gold. Doesn't rule out Brett going elsewhere, though.

ESPN.comMy very own New York Jets have received permission to talk to Favre, and try to talk him into coming to New York for next season. Thoughts?

Update: Favre didn't end up showing up for Packers camp today. Some may say he bluffed, I disagree. According to ESPN, Ted Thompson pleaded with Brett not to show up. Also, Brett will still seek reinstatement. Whatever Favre wants to do, he better decide quick since we're going through that calender quickly and eventually it'll be too late..

Wow, again? Isn't this like last season, and I'm pretty sure the season before? But I still like him as a QB. Although, he is seeming like a hypocrite. I haven't checked ESPN.com in ages, so I'm saying this based on the video that FootballFreak03 posted (or the link to the topic and the video).

It's slightly different because in previous years Favre never actually retired. Here he retired, and the Pack have moved on (they didn't draft 2 QBs this year because they thought Favre would be back). There are rumors that Ted Thompson pushed Brett to make a decision before he was ready, which made Brett choose retirement because he wasn't 100% sure he wanted to play and now he regrets it.. The whole situation should be cleared up within the next 12-20 hours. Anything past that, it's starting to get to be too late.

Well theres that but I meant the question about him retiring and coming back. And, yes, he should make a decision quickly, but think it out carefully, because I'm not sure the Packers or the NFL will like it if he makes a fast decision and then changes again.

The whole situation should be cleared up within the next 12-20 hours. Yeah, basically, I'm a genius. He filed for reinstatement this morning. He'll be granted it within the next hour or two, and then the Packers have 24 hours to add him to their active roster. Or, 24 hours to trade him .
