Wow.... unbelievable how this happened. Start of Free Agency, Baron Davis shocks the Warriors, goes to the Clippers. Davis is good friends with Brand. Elton Brand opts out even though he was scheduled to make 17.5 Million this season. He says I want to be back, I will take a paycut so you guys can get help for the team. And they did by signing Davis. Then the Warriors have a ton of money now after Davis is gone, so they go after Brand, offer him a big time deal to get a star player and to get revenge on the Clippers. So Brand is sitting there, pondering what he should do...... ... then all of the sudden today, the 76ers, who were looking at Josh Smith, all of the sudden today trade forward Rodney Carney, Center Calvin Booth, and a 1st round pick to the Timberwolves for a second round pick. This frees up even more cap space, and the 76ers have alot already. With this move, they get into the Elton Brand sweepstakes, and in about 5 hours of today, it appears he is going to Philly. He told the 76ers that he will sign a 5 year deal worth around $82 Million. He says he wants to go East. So now the 76ers get Brand, and they just need to bring back Iguodala and Louis Williams and they are set. I am very excited right now. sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3479059Wow.

It's not really that unbelievable. The Sixers have tons of money to work with and we knew Brand wanted to go to the East. Lou Williams and Iguodala will be back no doubt next season. They are rescricted free agents and barring another team throwing an offer sheet their way they'll be back. We do need give Iguodala more money though.
Even with Brand, the Sixers are not a top tier team in the East still. I'd still put Boston, Detroit, Cleveland, Toronto, and a healthy Miami team ahead of them in the East for now.

Im just surprised that this deal was done and it took about 5 hours to reel him away from California. Like when he opted out and the Clippers signed Davis, and then the Warriors offered over 90 million, he was just pondering for a while. But then when Philly makes an offer, he takes it right away. He must have really wanted to go east.
