As an update to this, I was notified in December that things aren't as bad as initially diagnosed. I guess we can downplay the "cancer" side of it and we can call it a disease....probably because that just makes things sound better.
Things have gotten much better and I've been less sick and living my normal life. Maybe it's just my stubbornness that refuses to let this ruin my life, but honestly, in a years time from now we are aiming for this thing to be a non-factor. I continue to consider myself a very, very lucky person and I have really begun to appreciate life that much more (especially in the wake of the plane crash here in Buffalo in February, I live literally a few blocks away from the crash).
