Just incase anyone ever doubts me whenever I spout off how great Isles Goaltending has been over the years. Not just DiPietro, but Danis and McDonald this season as well as Dubielewicz last season play quite good: www.puckprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=54

There's no doubt that Danis and McDonald have been good this year, but it's impossible to judge. The Isles have been half-tanking for half the season and the team is too inexperienced.
That being said, I don't think McDonald or Danis will get you to a Cup. That 15-year deal isn't looking great for DiPietro, by the way.
Interesting article, but I'm not sure it's the best way to measure a goaltender.

I wouldn't call it tanking one bit. Beating the Red Wings last night 2-0 (on an amazing performance by MacDonald) just shows how much effort the Isles have been putting forth. The problem has been: 1) The lack of talent on the team. That's changing, but the talent is raw and unrefined. 2) The system the Isles play either has them completely dominating the other team, or blowing up in their face. It'll be more the former rather than the latter as the team gets better and better.
I don't think MacDonald or Danis gets you a cup either, for this year. MacDonald is likely a career backup, but I really feel Yann Danis could be something special if given the opportunity. Everything I heard from Habs fans after we signed him was how much potential he had, and how the only reason he didn't play much there was because there was simply too many other goalies in the depth chart (Huet, Halak, Price).
As far as the DiPietro contract, it still looks fine through my eyes. If he comes back healthy next year, which all signs are pointing too after working with Dr. James Andrews, he'll be an underpaid goalie on the cusp of greatness. If he doesn't get healthy, the insurance kicks in and Wang gets his $$ back and the number comes off the cap.

Too bad they send Brendan Witt out first during a shootout.

Too bad they send Brendan Witt out first during a shootout. I had actually been wanting that for over a year now. I've attended several practices, and everytime they shoot one-on-one with the goalie Brendan always scores. When your in last place, why not give it a shot and hope to catch fire on something for next year?

He doesn't even have any goals.
