His days in Philly, the World Series in Arizona, the bloody sock in Boston, Curt Schilling has retired.
To the Philly fans: how will you remember Curt?

Don't forget that when he was at the end of his stay in Arizona after the 2003 season, he said he would only accept a trade to the Phillies and the Yankees. The Yanks, instead, decided to go after Javier Vazquez and Kevin Brown. Theo Epstein canceled his Thanksgiving plans to fly out to Arizona, spend a day or two with Curt and his family while pitching the idea of coming to Boston (which Curt was not warm to at the time). Eventually Curt said yes, waived his no-trade clause, and the rest is history. I think we all know who won that one. Easily a Hall-of-Famer in my opinion.

So many great memories of the Big Schill starting in Arizona when he helped beat the Yankees in the World Series. Curt was probably one of the smartest and most prepared ballplayers during his time in the bigs. From the bloody sock, to listening to him call into WEEI radio to talk about the Celtics, he is one of my all-time favorite players and characters. Curt and his wife are huge in the charity scene in the Boston area so I think it's not only important to praise his character on the field, but off the field as well.

I always remember him having a bit of a mouth. But at least he had the guts to criticize those terrible 90's Phillies. Can't say I like his politics though.

I agree with OOYL on the politics.
Curt Schilling will go down as my favorite player.
I loved his mouth. Whenever he complained, he was right. He was worth listening to because he spoke out for a reason. That was the difference between him and Billy Wagner. However, my favorite part about him was his clutchness. He was the best clutch athlete in all of sports in my mind. Being able to really get in a playoff mode where you have no distractions is something I respect him so much for, and that's why he's won Three World Serieses.

Curt was a great player and even though his days with the Phillies were only at the way beginning of my fanhood he still provided me with some of my greatest baseball memories.
Hall Of Famer hands down.

Thanks for the memories, Curt. EDIT: I loved his politics, otherwise, PP said it all.
