Two retirments to report today.
First, long time second baseman Bret Boone said he will call it quits as of now.
Also, Sammy Sosa says he will retire after the World Baseball Classic in 2009.
Which is most significant?

Neither of them. I thought Brett Boone retired like 3 or 4 years ago...right after the year he wiffed at the Homerun Derby. Sosa isn't on a team now so...yeah. And it doesn't mean he's done now, he still has the rest of the season to be employed. And besides, he got his 600 last year. What's he gonna go for, 625? Talk to me after the regular season.

I didn't say Sosa was done now. It clearly says Sosa will retire in 2009.
So I'm wondering if that might make a team sign him for a farewell tour and see if he has anything left to give.
