This debate is one that will require more research than past debates. The question is what's the best team (in a season) to not win a championship?
For example, the Colts dominated last year, Payton is acclaimed by every sports analyist in the game, yet he lacks the hardware. Throughout history, there have been plenty of teams like the colts. Their have been plenty of Payton Mannings who've had great years, but came up short. Which is the greatest?
Also, don't just share your views. Argue your case and try to disprove other's. There's a lot of room for thought in this debate. It's a broad topic, so get into it. Details, details, details. Hopefully more people will get involved in this debate.
Get to it kids..

Jim Kelly went to four super bowls with the Bills and came up empty all four times. The most crushing thing, is that they were in consecutive years.
Despite A-Rod proclaiming "I’m good-looking, I’m biracial, I make the most money, I play on the most popular team.", he hasn't done anything to put himself on top.
I'll talk more when I see what other people have to say.

I actually have a really good response to this.
I'll give you a hint, it's a hockey team.
Let me get my facts straight and I'll be back in a bit.

For the most part, Dan Marino never won anything. I don't think that matters just as much as Peyton Manning because Marino never really had any other elite guys around him.

Bet you're not expecting this:
The 1980 Philadelphia Flyers.
That team was freaking unbelievable, and for 35 straight games, they were undefeated, a record which still stands today and in my opinion, will never be broken. They went into the playoffs as the #1 seed and literally wrapped up the division with a month to spare.
They went on to the Stanley Cup fashion, where I believe they took a 2-1 lead on the New York Islanders. Eventually, the Isles won in 6. The fourth game included a blow offsides call, which led to a goal for the Isles.
After that game, the Isles became the dynasty of the 80's. And just think. The Flyers were just two games away.
Undefeated for 35 games in the season. INCREDIBLE!
They finished 48-12-20
Names that made up the team?
Pat Quinn, Bobby Clarke, Bernie Parent, Bill Barber, Brian Propp, and I believe Mark Howe was also on the team. Can't believe they let it slip away.
BlackOps: We're talking about teams.

That would've been nice to know. He could've talked a little bit more about the Colts and less than Manning.

I see where you could have gotten the wrong idea though. Got a case?

Not really.
Oh, 2005 Ohio State Buckeyes.
All the current offensive starters (Troy Smith, Antonio Pittman, Teddy Ginn) plus Santonio Holmes. Plus the defense. I can list them if you'd like.

They weren't even the best team in that specific year, so how could they be the best team to not win a championship?

The best team to not win a championship has got to be the Philadelphia Eagles. They went to 4 straight NFC Championship games (2001-2004). In those years they finished 11-5 in '01, 12-4 in '02, 12-4 in '03, and 13-3 in '04. They tore up the NFC but couldnt win the NFC Championship until '04 where they went to the superbowl and lost to the Patriots 24-21. Here are the stats for those years. 2001200220032004Those stats are great. They had one of the top offenses and deffenses during that period of time. Total Deffensive Stats '01-'04 INTs = 57 Sacks = 179 Total Offensive Stats '01-'04 Passing: -Yards = 14693 -TDs = 103 Rushing: -Yards = 7652 -TDs = 54 Receiving: -Yards = 13873 -TDs = 101 Those are very good numbers over a 4 year span. Those stats prove that the Eagles are the best team to never win a championship.

Stats are dumb.
They obviously weren't a good team, just a good bunch of players..
laziness comes from school
EDIT: Bad wording. It should be "a bunch of good players"

We're talking individual seasons. Like I said: The 1980 Flyers. So you can't say all four years.
So pick one, and make a better argument about it.
