Who was better in their heyday? Tiger or the golden bear?

Tiger is still in his heyday, and he will be the greatest golfer of all time. As much as I hate the expression: 'nuff said.

It's difficult to compare players of different eras. In terms of the impact they've made to the sport, Tiger is definitely the most influential golfer. In pure golfing terms, if Tiger and Nicklaus were to be pitted against each other I'd fancy Tiger, but only just.

Golf is the easiest sport by far to judge players of different eras. Don't look at opponents, just ability. Whereas in football, players played the game differently. In hockey, the ice was bigger, players wore less pads, etc. But in golf, the hole has always been the same size.
