Honestly, it had nothing to do with your points on hockey. I just felt that enough facts were brought to the table by anyone. But hey, not every debate can be a great one, eh?

Oh. Yeah. I know what you mean. If you were debating, it would've been a better one though.

Not really. Because I don't believe hockey is a major American sport anymore. The fact that people can't name the Top 5 scorers in the league is something that indicates that no matter how many American teams there are, nothing Gary Bettman does will spark interest in the game.
We need a guy who really cares about the game to take over and make some smart decisions as far as marketing goes.

Don't forget though, NASCAR president Mike Helton isn't a fans type of person, and is much more interested in money. Just like Bettman.

But I'm going to ask, how much can you possibly ruin NASCAR? What can you actually do to drastically change it?

Change the type of cars, the schedule type, alot of things GEO.

But it wouldn't change the sport itself. You CAN'T change the cars, because that's where the sponsors and money comes from.
Change the schedule? How? Move races to Tuesday? It wouldn't change the sport.

so how would you change the sport in any other sport?

Hockey: Take out the redline (been done), change net sizes (will be done), restrict where goalies can go (been done), add shootouts to decide games (been done.)
Football: Change the amount of points for a TD or a Field Goal. And/or make different field goal yardage different amounts. Change length of the field, number of downs, amount of teams.
Baseball: Any rules restricting the usage of the bullpen. Length of the basepaths.
Basketball: How high the rim is, distance from the three point line, making the half court shot worth four or five, etc.

It wouldn't change the sport. What are you trying to say here? Because you can certainly change the cars, ever here of the Car of Tomorrow?

I've heard of it...but is that really changing the sport?

I've heard of it...but is that really changing the sport? You clearly have no idea what your talking about, do you? It is completely changing the sport. ...for the worse The cars are 20 mph slower, and supposedly safer, but their was nothing unsafe about the old cars. As much as it is pointless, it is changing the sport. That's not the only thing though. For instance they added the "overtime" thing where if the race were to end under caution, they will race 2 more laps to decrease the chances of the race ending under caution. I'm pretty sure the lucky dog rule is somewhat new. That's when the first car a lap down gets a lap down under a caution. There is also the fact that all cars in the top 35 in owners points are garanteed to be in the race. One of the biggest differences is that Toyota is now allowed to race in the Nextel Cup Series. There are trillions of things that NASCAR could do to change the sport.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the sport of NASCAR consists of a car going at high speeds, driven by a driver, going around a track with a set number of laps. That's the sports of NASCAR. I don't think changing the cars changes the sport. It just changes it for certain drivers. Because not everyone drives it.
For instance, in hockey, changing jerseys doesn't change the sport. However, allowing two line passes does.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the sport of NASCAR consists of a car going at high speeds, driven by a driver, going around a track with a set number of laps. Well, the Car of Tomorrow goes slower than the current cars, so it does effect the speeds, and if a caution happens that would ordinarily end a race happens, that now extends the race by 2 laps. So that changes also. 2 of the 3 things you said were "unchangeable" have already been changed. So I think that answeres your question. NASCAR can dramatically change.
